Drops on the windshield, fog, the cloud sea, a worn and tinted surface that becomes its own subject. Slanted light. Dusk, overcast, early morning. The receding line: road, trail, creek, reflection, nearly always entering low and going away. Modest built things at the edge. A fence, a porch, a house, not centered, not monumental. Frames within the frame. And few people, so the landscape can speak on its own terms.
